Here is another Everything you need to know series article — but instead of going in-depth, we went into width. Here are the three popular automation and configuration management tools.

Ansible:

Ansible is known for its simplicity and agentless architecture. It uses SSH to communicate with remote servers, making it easy to set up and use. Ansible playbooks are written in YAML, which is human-readable and doesn’t require specialized programming skills. It excels at automating tasks, orchestrating complex processes, and managing configurations. Ansible’s strengths lie in its quick setup, easy learning curve, and efficient management of server configurations.

Puppet:

Puppet is another powerful configuration management tool that uses a declarative language to define the desired state of systems. Unlike Ansible, Puppet requires an agent to be installed on managed nodes, which can add complexity during setup. Puppet is well-suited for larger and more complex environments. Chef:

Ultimately, the choice depends on your organization’s specific requirements, familiarity with scripting languages, and the scale of your IT operations.
